Politifact rates Crossroads GPS statement, “production's down where Obama's in charge”

Politifact -- From 2003-08, Bush’s tenure, oil production on federal lands/waters fell in four of five years, for a net decrease of 16.8 percent. From 2009-11, Obama’s tenure, oil production rose two of three years, with a net decline of less than 1 percentage point. A Crossroads GPS ad says Obama takes credit for Bush-era policies then blames Obama for a downturn in oil production on federal lands. The ad goes too far when it cites a single-year 14 percent decline as evidence of the impact of Obama's overall energy strategy. The facts show that the decline represents a single year that followed years of substantial gains and occurred only offshore in the wake of a major oil disaster.The ad’s statement is partially accurate but leaves out important details/takes things out of context. Anyway, may I suggest that this 'alleged selection bias' could be, as the University of Minnesota’s Smart Politics study points out, the fact that Politifact chooses NOT to select as many Democrat statements? Likely because they spout more misinformation than Republicans? Don't get me wrong, both the left and the right spew misinformation, but I'd like a source more reputable than Politifact to hang my hat on! For a quick example, have they rated Obama's statement, "We can't escape the fact that we only control 2% of the world's oil"? If so, how did they rate it? I think, to a lot of people, especially on here, "radical, unamerican policies" are defined as anything the current administration puts forth, whether originally their idea or not. @drpepperTX That's not what I said, so don't misquote me. Especially not when my original post is on the same page. Anyway, maybe they have selection bias, or maybe the right is more prone to making false statements than is the left, which would explain why there are more "false" designations for them, and rightly so. @crep1291 Good point. But you won't hear most people on the right, or in here, talking about that, because if a Democrat President imposes a moratorium as a result of an oil company's negligence or recklessness, it's clearly the President's fault that we don't want something like that to happen again, right?

Politifact has a problem -- actually recognizing the truth when it hits them between the eyes (ie. the GOP whining about the O'Donnell promo with the word "welfare".....) There has been a number of less than factual findings by the proclaimed truthiness squad.

Judge a book by its cover? Just for fun, where would you draw the line for having "been around the block"? The PPACA may get overturned, but that's not certain. I don't think it will. And sure, here are some accomplishments: getting rid of DADT, is working to help veterans get employment, funded families going to Dover AFB to receive the remains of their family members, donated his Nobel Prize money to Fisher House, removed restrictions on stem cell research, promoted federal hiring of military spouses.... And Churchill was right: taxes are a zero-sum game. However, that doesn't mean that no good can come from them. We're all better off if nobody is destitute. @drpepperTX What they have, allegedly, is selection bias. Your source didn't say anything about them being wrong when they called someone's statements true or false.
