Okla., Colo. govs. report on 22-state CNG plan

Business Week -- The governors of Oklahoma and Colorado say their effort to encourage manufacturers to produce compressed natural gas vehicles is gaining momentum.

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper are leading a group of 22 states that want to use CNG vehicles in their fleets.

Fallin says dealerships representing Ford, Chrysler, General Motors and Honda have submitted more than 100 bids. She says that in Oklahoma, awards given through the multistate request for proposals will result in a 16 percent reduction in the cost of a three-quarter-ton CNG pickup truck.

Be cautious and plan ahead. Sounds to me like a bunch of reactive bureaucrats. Like the ones who pass laws immediately after an major incident, never thinking of the unintended consequences.

Obama is very supportive of this, but it would require much bigger fuel tanks to give the needed range.

This is how it should be done. The local states promoting a type of fuel, instead of the federal government.

CNG sounds great to me now. However, if its use as a vehicle fuel begins to spread, the magic will disappear as prices begin to rise.

This is all Great news, But it won't mean SPIT if the OBIMINATOR is ReElected to Our White House again. He Told all the News people back in 2008 that "Under his Plan for Crap and Trade-off, Energy Prices would Necessarily Rise" and He ment they would RISE out of the Reach of MOST Americans. He has had the EPA already Shut down over 250 Coal Fired Electricity Generation Plants. Shut off all oil drilling on Government Land and Most of the Gulf of Mexico. Increased Imports from Saudi Arabia by 20%, just to force the rise in Gas Prices. If anyone thinks "The ONE" will let Cheep CNG be used for Transportation, "Their Crazy".

CNG might be good for fleets but it will never be as cost effective as gasoline for the ordinary consumer.
