NG isn't bad as such, it's the methods under which it is produced that gives it its bad name.

jrsva: Neither Pig Oil, Pig Coal and now Pig Gas. Forget Pig Banks, who as we now hear, have been money laundering for many years and in mind blowing sizes.

Right on! Mountaintop-removal mining has been practiced in Appalachia in recent years. It should be treated as a criminal enterprise. State regulators have never been able to stand up to Big Coal.

The coal industry has always had a lousy business model. They thought that spending mega-bucks on Lobbyists they could continue continue to operate like the old days! NOT! There stupidity is coming back to bite them. As it should be. You can no longer completely despoil a portion of the US without the pollution bird coming home to roost!

Need to have NG as a mainstream option in all markets. Not just the West Coast, and spotty networks throughout the rest of the nation.

Coal, nat gas and nuclear should each account for a third of power generation. Oil should be reserved for refining uses.

Natural gas prices have been unnaturally low of late, thanks to supply exceeding demand. Don't know how much longer that will last -- but at least electricity is a little cleaner these days.

This is all because of government edict and not because of free market choices. And you can bet your last Federal Reserve Note that because of this government interference into the market, "utility rates will necessarily skyrocket".

BGOV Barometer? Not explained in the article.
BHO & Co. shutting down coal plants. That is how NG has gained share.

With all the technology in place to extract and make more efficient use of it, NG will surpass coal in the not too distant future.
