Latest gas price spike spawns bad ideas

USA Today -- If political pandering and half-baked ideas could fill Americans' gas tanks, the latest price surge at the filling station would be no problem. As typically happens when gas spikes, politicians are providing an oversupply of blame-shifting and cluelessness. If there's a good energy strategy in all the criticism, it's well hidden.

OPPOSING VIEW: It's time to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve

No sooner did gas prices begin to rise than the Republican presidential candidates blamed President Obama, insisting it was his fault that prices climbed from $1.85 a gallon the day before he was inaugurated to more than $3.70 a gallon now. That makes a good sound bite, but believing it requires forgetting that when Obama took office, the ravaged economy was depressing prices for commodities,

Yet another leftist Obozo apologist article. How many years are left for Obozo and the media to blame Bush for everything? And if we want to consider the "Bush Economy" we should ALSO consider the unemployment rate at less than HALF what we have now that all this "Hope & Change" has been implemented! Just sayin'

obummer cannot control the price of crude, but his incessant, obsessive tunnel vision he calls energy policy is a major factor in this whole mess. Remove him and a lot of things will change - in the right way. Come November we need to vote that this international embarrassment be retired to Samoa.

They need to develop engines that run on milk or maybe Obama Koolaid, at a much lower price per gallon.

When it comes to politics, for every complex problem, there's a simple solution that is totally wrong and will make things worse. You can depend that your elected officials will go down that rabbit hole.

It's time for the CFTC to do it's job to follow a 15 month old law requiring them to enact legislation to curb speculation and set position limits any one investor may possess. CFTC chief Gensler told us that he's not interested in changing the status quo and hypocrite Obama won't force the issue, is making a mockery of our laws. Voters, PLEASE don't vote for this power hungry socialist in November. I am a lifetime democrat and Obama is NOT a true democrat. Romney is not a prophet but I don't think he will hurt our economy or make a mockery of our constitution and justice system like Obama already has. Sorry Obama, I don't believe your "change" is in my country's best interest.

GWB had 9/11, hunt for Bin Laden, WMD and Iraq to influence the cost of energy.

BO had Bin Laden search ended and the withdrawal from Iraq to help lower US energy consumption. So what did he do with that advantage... squash US energy development and waste billions on ineffective green energy.

Just the withdrawal from Iraq has probably dropped military energy consumption by half.

So just what is obama doing to help the US wean off fossil fuels???? OH yeah.... he's following his mandate to make gasoline and other energies "rise" up to european standards!

Well, why doesn't everyone blame Obama for the national debt, or are they doing that already. It is easy to point the finger at him, but the republicans who are anything but conservative, in my opinion, should take a good look at themselves and what havoc congress has wreaked.
