Keystone XL Likely Dead

Louisiana Oil & Gas Association -- Critics of U.S. domestic energy policy are trying to maneuver the Keystone XL oil pipeline past the Oval Office, trumpeting the project as the 21st century version of the New Deal. The project has come to represent growing divisions in domestic energy policy during the presidential campaign cycle in the United States. In the long shadow of the project, however, are a series of domestic oil pipelines that could make Keystone XL redundant by the time it goes into service in 2015.

Republican lawmakers may try to force the administrations hands once again on the Keystone XL pipeline, a project meant to transfer crude oil from tar sand deposits in Alberta, Canada, to refineries along the southern U.S. coast. That Keystone pipeline would benefit Canadians as the oil would have been sent to Gulf coast refineries so that it could be exported. That means, for you who don't understand, the diesel and gasoline would go to other countries and would not lower the price at the pump one cent for U.S. drivers.

Senate dems are defecting from the Obama line.
