Audi uses LEDs to replace rear view mirror

Electronic Design News -- Alas, when you don’t have a rearview mirror because you don’t have a back window, how do you see what’s rapidly approaching from the rear? Now Audi’s R8 e-tron drivers will use a 7.7” Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) screen that shows what a tiny camera is making available—and looking like a HD rearview mirror. How cool is that?

I thought we were trying to reduce the weight of vehicles, not add to it, and also adding to the draw off the alternator

I'd be sold on this if there was a way to guarantee its functionality offline of any electronic or logical system in the vehicle.

not sure I would like a car with no back window.. also cool tech gadget, up untill it don't work.. cars are getting too much techy stuff and down the road, someone is going to have a night mare..

This type of technology should be hooked up into the old 24" long horizontal racecar-type mirrors for total coverage.
