National brands
Local/regional chains
Grocery store / department store stations
Warehouse clubs (BJ's, Costco, Sam's, etc.)

A little too much Christmas cheer or just taking the week off for the holiday? I'm pretty sure I answered this question last week.

Right a local supermarket Stop&Shop Gas is .30 cheaper than Mobil 500 yards away and for every 100., you spend in groceries you get.10 off a gallon of gas and you can acculmalate points for 1 month I had .40 off before.

Rumor has it the Moderators had a WILD Christmas party on Christmas Eve and they still have not recovered from it yet. ;)

That is probably why this week's poll is late this today. :)

Doesn't make any difference as to weather it's a Brand or not. Usually look for best price.

In our area independents tend to have lower prices Hess tends to be the lowest chain with Sunoco next .Ethanol free is priced at 20 cents a gallon more than reg unleaded ethanol .Has anyone figured out why we need ethanol . Go figure ?

The results are certainly revealing. People are not interested in getting the lowest price even though all gas is the same (except a few additives to keep fuel injectors clean - That can be bought at a auto store for much cheaper). Brand loyalty, a function of the free market system is alive and well.

Whenever possible, I buy Exxon gasoline (non-ethanol). Using the Platinum Exxon-Mobil MasterCard gives me a 15 cent/gallon break at the pump. It does add up.

We only buy Mobil gas. Our Mobil credit card reimburses us 15 cents/gallon on Mobil gas.

The Mobil card is only used for gasoline.

I also look for the best price which sometimes is the non-national brand. However, most of the time we use the National brand which is what I chose for the poll.

Must be a good reason why select car manufactures recommend top tier national brands.

The one with the best price and near where I'm going. My one exception: where I work and live the prices are relatively high, so if I need gas when going home from work I will go out of my way a bit.

I use the site to find the station that is a combination of cheapest/closest to my house and fill up there. No sense in spending $4 in fuel to save $0.03 a gallon.

Toronto is almost devoid of competition now, as the national brands have eliminated virtually ALL of the independent competition.

Which is to say, there is NO competition in Toronto anymore. The price is set somewhere, and they all price to that.
