The good news is YOU'RE ASKING!
I bought some, but the jury is still out. Still waiting for my 1st $25 gas card too; that came w buying 3 at once. We'll see.
But, again, I'm glad you're asking so if they are dirtbags, we could at least say so; but so far I don't know; and sounds like a lot of people are in that same boat.

I thought the ad was good enough to purchase the product and test it. I have used it for only two weeks, so I don't have anything to report. But, a small decrease in fuel economy, which they said is due to the computer controlled fuel system. I've been disconnecting my battery each time I put Ethos in my tank to "reset" the fuel system computer, but have not seen the advertised increase yet. I do understand that it takes a few weeks for the car to adjust to the product. I have 11 weeks of data on my car before, and I'll report back after 11 weeks after trying the product to tell you all if it worked for me.

What we need is something like the "Motor Trend Fuel Additive of the Year"
>unless the product is a scam....
If the product was legitimate, they'd have it at a reputable lab for testing.
Kind of like all spamvertised products.

It is obvious that some people on here do not even look at the advertisements. I think that the products advertisement is very convincing it has made some claims that would be hard to fake. I have not purchased the product yet but I intend to give it a shot after all, you have nothing to loose with the money back guaranty.

We are going to have to change to ethanol because of the lack of petrolium fuel so why not keep it included in the gas buddy site.

Is Gas Buddy endorsing them? If you don't have complete faith in their product, it's Gas Buddy's credibility that will suffer. If I buy their product as a result of seeing it advertised here and it doesn't meet it's claim, I'm going to be some upset with GB! Otherwise, you're selling your reputation for a few dollars.

Usually, if something seems too good to be true, it is too good to be true. Where is the independent testing?

If The Ethos fuel enhancer works as claimed, then the "Ethos" company execs should be tripping over themselvs to provide the GasBuddy people with their product for testing, unless the product is a scam....

I think it's the responsibility of the website to research their "advertisers" and decide if their product or message fits the websites mission. Even though an advertiser pays for their add, the money is being collected by the website as a sponsor which directly or indirectly "endorses" the advertiser. I believe there is some responsibility that needs to be exercised by the website management team to choose which advertisers they allow to post ads. Heck - if not, you could open yourself to all sorts of stuff - could GasBuddy become a dating site - who wants to post an add for SWF??

"--drilling at home is the answer." Nice in theory, but the problem STILL is with the refineries - unless your car burns crude--

I, also, feel that if an advertisement is showing on your site, your are viewed as endorsing the product, whether you do or not. Personally, I would prefer to see only ads for reputable businesses and appreciate this issue being put up as a discussion topic based on feedback of the members. As far as this company goes, I have never heard of them and voted that I don't know.

The promoters of Ethos have been involved in promoting multi level marketing scams of multiple "miracle" products over the course of many years. Why would you think they have suddenly discovered a "miracle cure for mpg"?
Would you let them advertise a "little pink pill" taken at every meal will cure your cancer?

I think it's ultimately in the best interest of this website to associate itself with reputable companies only. Of course it's much easier for me to say that since I don't have to pay the bills, but while one should expect advertisements to be only that, some people will take them as endorsements and it can hurt the reputation of the site.
Finding the balance is the key.

Hmm well considering I see ads for "burn water in your car" or some such thing here on occasion, personally I think any purchase is buyer beware. Do your research yourself. And if a deal seems too good to be true, most likely it is! Most of us yanks know that. I also understand this website needs to make money to run. As long as people use their common sense then I don't see a problem. Perhaps a disclaimer about the adds would help?

Make Sure it works (I am doubtful) and does not adversely affect the engine, sensors, etc.
Your credibility may be judged by your associates (advertisers).

Ethos has been advertising for about 5 months now. They have been a reliable paying advertiser with us however we receive a few emails per week, complaining that it is either a scam or they are making unrealistic claims. We try our best to protect our members from scams and advertising frauds. Ethos has been used by a number of large organizations and there are many people who support thier claims.
We ourselves are skeptacal and would like some first hand knowledge on the Ethos claims and we plan on running our own tests soon. Until we have some of our own test results, we are curious how many members are offended by the Ethos advertising.
