Oil takes a beating on lousy jobs report, $2.99 in SC!

GasBuddy Blog -- You might hear it on the evening news tonight. You might already be watching it on your computer. The price of crude oil took a beating today after a worse-than-expected jobs report showed far fewer jobs added to the economy than was expected. Couple that with more people leaving the work force, and its a recipe for disaster.

Oil prices are closing out the week at their lowest levels in months, and motorists all over the country will soon be enjoying falling gasoline prices, if they haven't been already. Even previous problems on the West Coast don't have much weight compared to a significant outlook on the economy like a jobs report. Sure, BP's Cherry Point, WA refinery is back online, but supply tightness lingers. Apparently that...

It's been dropping a lot in Southern California. $3.80 range. I spend time across the border in Mexico and happily fill up for $2.80/gallon.

Dropped 4 cents on Wednesday. Went up 20 cents on Thursday, then came down 6 cents by Saturday. What comes down, must go up.

atd: wished that was true for the East Coast. It's still 3.27 and 4.09 at one station here - the rest are 3.29 (gas) and 3.89 (diesel).

Diesel-3.779, Gas-3.999,,,,in my area-50 miles north of S.F.(Golden Gate!)It's good to be driving a diesel again after year of over priced diesel-fuel. Cheaper fuel ,better mileage!

right now it's 3.29 here and diesel is still at some stations at 4.09, which is a total ripoff.

Local stations are running $4.30 to $4.40 for regular unleaded. No drops here, just price increases. Some oil exec is making money keeping supplies low out on the west coast. Whatever happened to competition? Stories all make it sound like one refinery outage caused all the price increases.

The job report has nothing to do with Oil Prices, these are affected by world market conditions, this was just another way for the short investors to make money.

In a post-recession U.S., many companies have learned that they can boost profits by squeezing the same amount of work out of fewer employees. That philosphy has helped to stifle job recovery, even as GDP growth has slowly come back to life post-recession.

Its sad that the only reason oil prices are falling is because of a poor economy. Seems like a scam to me. We should still have affordable gas prices even when the economy is good....if we expect it to stay that way. Greed Kills!

Hey, guess what? If you don't have a job to add to your family finances then you will be driving less and doing all sorts of things to save money while you look for a new job.

Oil needs to tank, much like our ecocnomy has to spur growth
