Nominal increases in crude oil reflect positive signs for consumers

GasBuddy Blog -- Geopolitical events yesterday included developments overseas and domestically which, combined, may bode well for U.S. consumers as WTI gained just 10 cents to close on the NYMEX at $102.93 per barrel. Brent closed down $2.53 per barrel to $118.68 and that narrowed the gap between the two to $15.31 per barrel, the narrowest differential since Feb. 28, according to Bloomberg.

Early in the day Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate both declined following the announcement that 10 hours of "constructive" negotiations in Istanbul between Iran's delegation and the U.N. None of the Iran talks will be seen as "constructive" in the years to come.

I will not believe it until I see it in my home town where gasoline prices are just a tenth of a penny shy of $3.90 per gallon.

Obama is doing nothing about this as he wants high gas prices so he can push his green only agenda, which so far has cost taxpayers already a few billion dollars in bad loans and bankruptcies.

Is this supposed to make us feel better? Get the price of gas down, and we will actually be better.

The only positive sign is lower gas prices. Not stories about the problem.

I doubt we will ever see the days of the $80 barrel again, so while a cent reduction here and there may help, the general trend will be for continued high prices until America begins building more refineries for the type of crude that is needed and also exploring and opening up more oil fields on federal lands (not just the private lands that OBama is touting as his proof of opening up more oil production).

It is not a positive sign until there are reduction in the prices at the retail market. Otherwise it is must more gold lining the pockets of big oil and the speculators. Yet the House of Representatives leadership wants to increase the subsidies and tax credits paid to big oil at the expense of the regular tax payers. Go figure who is getting paid off, sure not the consumer.

I agree with TRAIN RIDER with one exception. The cost to taxpayers has been more than just a few $B! You can't just consider the bad loans handed out to unviable solar companies as political payoffs, but you have to consider the $Bs in lost royalties due to all the drilling shut down on federal lands. Obama's claims are totally false. The only reason oil production is higher is because of the boom on private lands that he can't shut down (yet). The only reason we are exporting gasoline is because our demand is down sharply due to his crappy economy which he still blames Bush for. He is a pathetic joke of a President.
