Hydrogen could boost gas mileage in cars; UNF prof skeptical

Florida Times-Union -- With gas prices eclipsing $4 per gallon for the first time since 2008, the technology of hydrogen-to-internal combustion engines is gaining traction.

Littlefoot Integrations run by Vaughn Paul of Bryceville is beginning to make some headway with hydrogen technology he says can increase gas mileage by 30 percent to as much as 70 percent.

Paul bills his device as “water for fuel.” The system he offers — $599 for smaller engines and $799 for engines larger than 5.7 liters — is a hydrogen extraction device that boosts a regular gasoline or diesel-fed engine with hydrogen.

“The goal of the product is to increase gas mileage,” Paul said. “We supplement gasoline or diesel with hydrogen. … It basically creates hydrogen from water.”

It has been proven in many studies by both public and private entities that Hydrogen does in fact enhance the performance of internal combustion engines. The auto manufacturers in this country could assist in this technology greatly. Other countries are getting it done and there will be fully Hydrogen On Demand Powered vehicles available in the very near future.

To all people and companies in the world studying new technologies, "keep up the good work", we need your solutions to safe alternative energy on any scale.

Here is something even better the hydrogen! A water atomic engine!

Newly acknowledged ultra-powerful water atomic energy without radioactivity is heat-released from water hydrogen with Rocketjet Corporation's Water Atomic Engine, US Patent No. 7,685,973. It will END GLOBAL WARMING and start a FREE ENERGY ERA

Wow! FREE ENERGY! Everyone should run out an get one now, before BIG oil has everyone associated with this miracle product assassinated!!!

skeptical is a good thing in new technology. Let's prove that it works not just once or twice, but consistently.

If it works, he should be selling his system to the Big Three.

Interesting but sounds dangerous. If it were as good as billed, then it probably would be in wider use already.

Wouldn't mind readoing more of the science behind it. Would it produce it cost though?

A few caveats, potassium hydroxide is very corrosive and the hydrogen being produced does make the fuel (gasoline) burn hotter, but that does not necessarily mean it is an answer to our energy problems. Our engines are not designed for this added heat.

There are no studies of actual mileage improvements, just anecdotal stories from folks who probably have (unconsciously or consciously) modified their driving behavior when they added the device.

Seems to me that Professor Campbell hasn't tested Mr. Paul device. I can understand his skepticism, but maybe he should test before making a summary judgement.

"Could"? Perhaps its time to experiment and test before getting everyone's hopes up with articles such as this one.

The problem with hydrogen fuel right now is that it is made from fossil fuel, and takes a lot of energy to make. We need to wake up to Aneutronic Fusion, using the hydrogen/boron fuel cycle, e.g. (H + 11B > 3 4He + 8.7 MeV) All of our power problems would be solved then, and we would have enough raw power to crack water into hydrogen fuel, and be able to run truly non-polluting hydrogen powered vehicles. If we would invest in this future power source, all these ridiculous ethanol plants, wind mills, solar cells and other low density power schemes would disappear, replaced by the power of the mighty atom.

Test. Test test.that is how an invention becomes an innovation. Not throwing money at unproven technology. It takes time and no liberal do go polititions can rush an engineering feat with laws and regulations. Barry is Not capable of choosing winners when does not have the vision himself for this technology to succeed.

i have seen some pretty cool devices or altered motors but the big problem being there's never enough room left over for passengers. if everybody has to have a personal vehicle, put a hood on a moped = problem solved
