Expect things to change. Wireless providers are setting up as Telco and Cable are not interested in rural markets. Some of this ( or all ) may be available in urban markets. Digital recording devices are used more and advertisers now know that they are increasingly on ignore. The ads are leaving TV cable and more ads are showing up on your internet. Notice the many more local side ads on most of your internet searching. Cable must find another source of revenue.

I used to have to watch out when my machines connected because a nearby neighbor had a completely open WiFi connection.

It was a 2WIRE gateway and they default to a unique password that's printed on the side of the gateway, at least in the AT&T incarnation.

I don't leave mine open.

I think it's fine here with a caveat -- it's an opinion piece and there is currently a huge debate raging on the site as to whether opinion pieces are news?

An option: Entertainment for the TV component. Or Computers might also fit.
