Prodigit you missed the point. The Linux box was a PLANT. It was just one of the Netbooks we'd installed the Netbook Distro on to see if anyone would bite. We'd have lost a lot of money if they did.

@herbiepopnecker: that's bull, first most netbooks come under $300. Nearly all of them have windows on. If they have Linux on em, they either are sold as expensive but with a larger harddrive, or ram size, or they are sold for $50 cheaper.
There's no way you are selling a windows netbook for 349, while selling exactly the same Ubuntu variant for only 99! Even the EeePc 701 still holds a market value of $129.
Likewise, there's no netbook that's priced $99 with Linux OS, that would increase over 3,5 times it's value just because it's running windows...
bull $#1T if you ask me!

"linux rules the clouds" too bad we are living on earth; where probably Windows is ruling the world!
Ubuntu is indeed the largest of all distributions; partly because smart phones, the majority of the linux segment, have an enormous variety of operating systems (although Android is quickly coming behind Ubuntu as the second most popular OS!).

Just finished updating all my server bank to 10.04 Have a couple specialty servers that need Debian, but they're in VMs now.

That's too funny.
Do you have any netbooks left that don't run windows? I'll take a few.

We did an interesting experiment this Christmas. Five identical netbooks, 4 with Win7 and 1 with Ubuntu. Told everyone who looked that the Ubuntu model simply did not run Windows and that was all there was to it (we lied). The Ubuntu netbook was priced at $99.00, the Win7 netbooks at $349.00.
We sold all the Windows netbooks. Today we reinstalled Windows on the Ubuntu one and put it out for sale. For $349.00

Ubuntu has been gaining popularity for the last several years. Over the last couple of years whenever I looked at distrowatch I've seen Ubuntu at the #1 popularity spot.
One area I'm about to venture in is Ubuntu on my PlayStation 3. The PS3 offers amazing CPU power and Ubuntu supports it natively.
