For the life of me I don't know why the replaced the Rendezvous with the Enclave which is not as good looking and a lot more expensive. I have driven both and I prefer the Rendezvous 10 to 1. I wish Buick would bring it back and stop the Enclave.

The Wall Street Journal ran an extensive piece about how they can't keep the Enclave (moreso than its two GM twins) in stock.

So, local dealer has a couple more, one in red, another in dark grey. Looked them over and like them better than I did. Price is ridiculous - $45K for either one, but they are loaded with nav, dvd and all kinds of junk. To me, the Equinox/Torrent are just as nice, more manageable, more economical and can come in at less than $30K.

It looks better in pictures than in person, I think. Local dealer has a couple and I've looked at them. They are much larger than I thought. Not crazy about the dash or color of the fake wood, at least the wood in the ones I saw. Reviews are good, however, praising quiet ride, handling, and performance. Only criticizm was poor fuel economy, around 16 mpg.

Actually, they have best in class fuel economy (using the new 2008 EPA standards) they are more roomy than any of the competition, quieter than a Lexus and safer than any SUV ever tested (5 stars all around). I've driven them and I think they handle well with an extremely smooth (yet not floaty) ride!

The Enclave is big, expensive and gets crappy mpg.

It's a nice looking crossover SUV. I'm considering that for my next vehicle in the near future.

FocusSVT: Yeah, but isn't the Enclave more expensive than the Edge?

The Ford Edge is no match for the Enclave even the Lincoln MKX. Saw and touched one at a dealer launch and it was great. Lines are better and I really prefer the Enclave grille than the GMC Acadia

It is a cross between a van and a suv, probably going to replace the Ranier. Gm is getting rid of that size of suv.

I saw it at the car show in our town. Runs $38-46K according to the salesman. Much nicer looking than the rondezvue--more lexus SUV looking.

Fast_Eddie, my Dad and his cousin both bought Rendezvous vehicles in the last 12 months. Those are not extravegant dudes so there must be some value there. For me, I don't want the third row if I can get more leg room on the back seat (My kids are now driving themselves around). And I want to sit higher than a car.
Currently I am in a 95 Aerostar (Ford) with the middle seat out (man, talk about rear legroom!).
Also it sits higher so minor flooding doesn't stop me. But in the not too distant future I want to get something newer.

The VUE is getting a redesign, but not replaced. Saturn now has the Outlook, which is the same platform as the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave.
All 3 of these are a little bigger than the Rendezvous and MUCH BIGGER than a VUE, which is a shorter wheelbase Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent.
The Edge doesn't have a 3rd row option, that is why I didn't even consider, I bought the outgoing Rendezvous last month, ALL vehicles depreciate, like they are going out of style, I always buy new AFTER they go out of style, that way the Dealer / Manufacturer take the brunt of the depreciation.
I bought my MSRP $27,220 Rendezvous for $19,000 OTD, (that is $17,925 before taxes) or 65.9% of sticker, so the Dealer / Manufacturer already took 34.1% of the depreciation for me.

I believe that it is going to share the same platform as the GMC Acadian. I saw one at the SF Auto Show. It looked nice, a little lower to the ground but still had that SUV look to it!
