I have not done much my self other then the K&N air filter when I first bought the car. But I am in debate with my self of buying a supercharger in the next year or two.

Running a fresh air intake system is one way to improve performance and mileage. But clean the filter more than it's stated in the owners manual.
Also a set of BOSCH Platinum +4 spark plugs also make a big difference.

Will a K and N air filter help my X5 diesel. Not that I drive it that hard but the twin turbos do give it a nice kick!

Sidegapped spark plugs, got rid of the front snorkel from the airbox, played with the MAF sensor. That's about it so far. Cold winter temps have hampered my experimenting thus far.

Headers, exhaust, K&N or intake, chip, synthetic in entire drive train, coast as much as possible, and try not to use the brakes.

I'm guessing that your fuel mileage will take a hit with a supercharger.

Can you not get your throttle remapped or your chip flashed?

I swear by the K&N filter. I used one on my old Durango and now in my 530i. Both got better mileage.
