The stop at 3rd base in the 8th inning is going to be talked a lot. If Lofton had scored, would the Sox still exploded with the runs they got later in the inning?

Once the Sox bats got going, only Westbrook slowed them down for a few innings. No other Cleveland pitcher could get any outs from them.

From a Clevender's point of view, BUMMER!!! From a sports fan point of view it was a great game. I love the pitching from both sides. Both sides made mistakes, mmm, cleveland maybe a couple of serious mistakes. The coaching was very good on both sides. Here's hoping the sox will bring home the whole world series and don't get frozen out in the frozen west. Good Luck to them.

Not sure I feel badly for Garko, but I have so much respect for Eric Wedge, and Cleveland is one heck of a good team. Their relief pitching somehow fell apart a bit after being so great against the Yank-Me's and the way they had pitched for the first few games in the series. I was a little surprised that C.C. and Fausto weren't better, especially Fausto, but as Wedge said I think the experience they all have for having been there will be key in getting back there next year.
As for representing the AL, hope that the Sox can beat the hottest team I've ever seen. Go SOX!

Carmona had alomst gotten out of that first inning jam when Drew hit the slam. I turned the game off at that point, knowing that the Tribe was toast.
If Dice-K stuggles, you may see Beckett pitch a few innings.
The Tribe is now in trouble!

Bring what home? Dream on. Let them play the game first before predicting it. Garko should be quiet instead of saying the bubbly will taste just the same in Boston as it would in Cleveland.

Cleveland needs to win game 6. They cannot afford to let the momentum swing back to the Red Sox by losing game 6 and expecting to win game 7.

Beckett is the best post-season pitcher in the game right now. If it goes to a game 7, you may see him pitch a few innings.
The Tribe need to close things out tonight.

Beckett is one of the best big game pitchers in baseball. Now it's up to Fausto to close the door on the Red Sox.
Giving the Sox life is a dangerous thing. If Schilling can reach back and find his stuff it could be down to a 7th game.

Beckett gave a small opening in the first that was snuffed out by the dp ball to Hafner.
Manny - that sucker can hit, but McCarver is right - the only way you stop that kind of crap is to put the next pitch in his ear hole.
Back to Boston for game 6.

He blocked out everything: the screaming crowd, Kenny Lofton's chirping, even his ex-girlfriend singing only a few feet away. Josh Beckett, standing tall as ever on the mound, rose above it all - October's biggest star.
Beckett dominated the Cleveland Indians for the second time and Manny Ramirez drove in the go-ahead run with a 390-foot single as the Boston Red Sox stayed alive in the AL championship series with a 7-1 win Thursday night in Game 5.

Beckett sure had the Tribe off balance all night. Swinging at pitches out of the strike zone. A great game for the Sox and now back home and Schill on the mound.

I don't know about anyone else, but, actually I kinda like to hear Manny say that, because it means he's feeling no pressure and ready to play loose and have some fun. If they feel too much pressure, then, it may come down on top of them.
They have no pressure anymore, because no one, including me, thinks they're going to come back from this 3 games to 1 deficit, so, might as well just go out and play. If they win, OK, if they don't, well, no one expected them to anyway.
While it may not be the most popular opinion in and around Red Sox Nation, personally, I like it.

A statement from Manny Ramierez. Not what Boston fans want to hear!
"We're not going to give up," Ramirez said. "It doesn't happen, so who cares? There's always next year. it's not like it's the end of the world."

The Red Sox are lucky they didn't have to play the Indians in a 5 game series or they'd be on vacation now like the Yanks.

The Indians are really hitting on all cylinders. Peralta is having an awesome LCS. Lofton, Blake, Martinez, Cabrera, Garko are all hitting well too. Sizemore and Hafner haven't even had the greatest series so far either.
Betancourt has been dominant as well.

Hang tight, Colorado Rockies. There's another team roaring through October. And you just might see them in the World Series.
Everything is falling Cleveland's way, and with a victory in Game 5 on Thursday night, the Indians will have another chance to bring this title-starved town something it hasn't seen since the Browns won it all in 1964.

All pitcher have down periods and/or bad games, and that's the situation. Dice-K is pretty spent as he's thrown many more innings that he ever did when he was in Japan. He's gassed, plain and simple. Given another chance, I don't think you'll see the same Schilling next time around, he'll be better. Either way, to get there, Wakefield is either going to have come on strong, or Lester will have to be inserted quickly, or Beckett is the Red Sox last hope.
Congrats to the Indians on a great game and timely hitting.

Good job by Westbrook and the Tribe's bullpen.
What was Papi thinking by running to third with no outs and the ball hit in front of him? If it didn't hit him, he would've been out at third anyway. That helped kill that 4th inning.
Dice-K couldn't finish the fifth. The Bosox needed more than that from him.
The Tribe may be exposing the Bosox' starting rotation in much the same way they exposed the Yanks'; inconsistant and a bit broken down (though to a lesser degree than the Yanks').

There were also many inter-inning pitching changes which only added to the time it takes to play the game.
