Let's switch to algae-based bio-fuels and be done with this.

. . Did Buffett Help Obama Kill Keystone Pipeline to Reap Financial Gain?
"Warren Buffett’s Burlington Northern Railroad
Did Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson and Warren Buffett Help Obama Kill Keystone Pipeline to Benefit Burlington Northern Railroad? What prompted the president to turn the lights out on what critics argue would have been an environmentally-sound, job-boosting, oil-producing project that would benefit the nation and preserve the financially beneficial Canadian-U.S. oil relationship? What does President Obama have to gain by rejecting Keystone XL and who else stands to benefit from his decision?
It was previously reported on The Blaze that Warren Buffett’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC railroad — a unit of Buffett’s Omaha, Nebraska based Berkshire Hathaway — would be among those poised to reap sizable gains by the administration’s decision to reject TransCanada’s oil pipeline permit. Berkshire Hathaway purchased a 22% (or, $34 billion) share of the 32,000 mile line in 2009, shortly after Obama was elected.
“Whatever people bring to us, we’re ready to haul,” Krista York-Wooley, a spokeswoman for Burlington Northern told Bloomberg. If Keystone XL “doesn’t happen, we’re here to haul.”
According to the analysis, the rail option, while more expensive, would minimize environmental impact. At the same time, however, it would also worsen greenhouse gas emissions."

From the article:
"The thousands who spilled into the nation's capital via train, bus, bicycle, car and airplane . . . "
"Nowak could have stayed home in the Upper Midwest, fleshing out plans for an ultra-low energy house he's designing so he and his wife can reduce their carbon footprint." ====================================================================
With the exception of the two dudes biking their way across D.C. most of the thousands of these numb-numbs were INCREASING their carbon footprints, which is the opposite of what they are asking US to do. This is not unusual for these extremists, who like Al Gore and Maurice Strong have different rules for them than they do for US. Now it's okay to oppose the Keystone XL, but it behooves us to at least know "why" and have some credible evidence to support our positions. Now pipelines (while being the safest means of transmission) do have a history of leaking, so it would be wise to use every precaution to avoid such a catastrophe. This is why the pipeline is triple lined and there are monitoring stations along the route which can detect leaks, making any spills easier to clean up quickly. Would these features make the pipeline more palatable to the "greenies"?
No, this is NOT satisfactory to many of these extreme environmentalists who have an agenda that is commensurate with the United Nations "Agenda 21". It's unfortunate for these protesters that the underpinnings of this movement is based on "junk" science and is therefore void of aforesaid "credible evidence". Keep in mind that the route of this pipeline has already been altered to assuage the fears of some who think that a spill might not be cleaned up quick enough before damaging a major aquifer. That's a legitimate concern although proponents of the XL have said that their detection system is state-of-the-art and NOT something about which we should worry.
So there isn't much that can be done to educate those who already have their minds made up before even hearing the facts and BO is going to need more than a "solidarity hug" in order to be reelected to another term.

Keystone II not a good idea. Just let it die. We're never going to get anything out of it.

Is Mitt Rummy (and the rest of the Republicans in DC) trying to ride and beating a dead horse? Is the TRUTH about the Keystone pipeline finally getting out to and recognized by We The People?? If it is - Mr. Rummy is in deep trouble - he can't very well flip flop now and get away with it. Most of his campaign - and all his cohorts in DC - are too deeply vested in using the lack of a pipeline as their platform for election.
Mr Rummy - PLEASE PLEASE - show your true colors and abandon the chase for the pipeline.
You can't do that, can you. Death for your campaign if you do. LOL

Please just say BYE BYE to TransCanada and their grand scheme just to get Alberta crude to China via the Gulf of Mexico. I'm sure the exeutives at Royal Dutch Shell are very upset that their plan to sell inferior Alberta crude at top dollar may not come to pass.
