So the arctic isn't the only place this is happening.

This happens all over the earth. It is the way oil was discovered in the first place.

I'm shocked that scientists don’t already have a working hypothesis about this! Is this previously un-accounted for source of atmospheric Methane perhaps the missing "natural cause" that the deniers of anthropomorphic global warming have claimed existed all along? Or is it one of the natural feed-backs resulting from global warming more directly caused by mans activity? With methane being "about 20 times more powerful than carbon dioxide" as a head trapping gas, the cause of this methane source can make a big difference. So I hope they get on the stick.
