WASHINGTON - The cost of living increased at a slower pace in March as the run-up in energy prices eased, supporting the view of some Federal Reserve policy makers that inflation will ebb.

The so-called core measure, which excludes more volatile food and energy costs, rose 0.2 percent.

Companies may find it difficult to keep raising prices as 12.7 million Americans remain unemployed, almost twice the number at the end of the last expansion. Less inflation would give the Fed room to keep interest rates near zero to spur the economic recovery and boost employment.

Right -- price controls are a good way to get us out of this mess -- try gas prices first and see what happens.

The price for everything needs to be frozen, like the working mans wages have been.

The economists that figure this stuff out must get paid well and live in another planet.

Of course food and energy is excluded, people would have a heart attack if those figures were included.

I don't know what bubble they live in, but my wallet keeps taking a hit especially on fuel for my car to get to work and back home, fuel to heat my house and food for my family. Have they been to the grocery store lately, their [rices are rising just as fast as gas prices.

The effect of Ethanol boostig corn prices shows upo in Meat prices. Good thing March was still Lent!High Diesel prices will be a killer on Farmers' Spring plowing costs!
They don't count the items that are most affected!
