no

fuel is a minor cost of any trip when you factor in 100-150 for hotel room, meals at restaurants, etc. A $50 fillup is minor compared to those prices.

I did not travel this summer, but my children each drove 1200 miles to visit me. Each thought that driving was still cheaper than flying, but when I saw the gas receipts I'm not sure. Each family had at least 5 persons so maybe that did make the plane way more expensive, I don't know

Why are prices so high? Whose fault is it?
I know the reasons are varied, but you are missing out on one KEY area; Speculation! This is the single reason that the current prices for gas have spiralled out of control. Here is a good link:
