I tend to believe the gas does not burn as fast from full to half. With gas prices the way they are; when do you fill up? Empty, quarter, half?

When prices are rising, I top off when I need about three gallons.

The amount of gas in the tank has no bearing on the consumption rate. The difference is how aggressively the accelerator pedal pressed.

Don't wan to take a chance on running completely out. Also saw an article from AAA. It said that you should fill up at a quarter tank to prevent sloshing in the tank which can move any debris around and into the gas line and protects the pump.
