KDKA Pittsburgh -- one of the originals. My father listened to it back in the 1920s on his crystal set.

WLS-890(as mentioned before) and WCFL-1000 in Chicago were the dueling "rock and roll" stations thru the 60's. What set WLS apart is that they would publish the "silver dollar survey" every week (I had a copy of each survey for over 5 years, but my mom threw them out!!), and play the top 40 hits, each and every day, with "Dex" Card, at 3:00pm. They would also do a Top 5 at 10pm each night (call in your favorites), with Art Roberts....like American Graffiti....never was better than that...

1050 CHUM
There was also an FM station, but I don't remember where on the dial.
CHUM is still around but has had a few new formats since I listened to it.

Appropriately enough, the WDAF stations have always been located at one end or the other of the dial.

Some cities where characters 2-4 match the city's airport code: KHOU (CBS 11) - Houston, Hobby Airport KIAH (CW 39) - Houston, George Bush Intercontinental Airport KICT (rock station, 95.1 FM) - Wichita, Mid-Continent Airport KMCI (Independent, channel 38) - Kansas City, Kansas City International Airport

WDAF ("Why Dial Any Further?" was a backronym that postdated the assignment of the call letters), Kansas City, still in use.

KOMA out of Oklahoma City was the only Top 40 station we could tune in up here in South Dakota if you positioned your radio just right and only at night!

KYW, Philadelphia (and Cleveland for a while) -- one of the old oldies.
