We celebrate Christmas on December 25 not on December 26. We celebrate New Years on January 1 not on January 2. Well this year both holidays fall on a Sunday. So why doesn't the mail get delivered on Monday? What are the government workers and unions too lazy to come to work on Monday? This doesn't happen on Easter. I have NEVER seen the postal service or banks take off on Monday following Easter. Do the lazy union workers or government workers get paid for two holidays when the holiday falls on a Sunday? Then the postal service wonders why they are almost $10 billion in the red. I went to the local Weis Market and the Postal Contract unit was open. I am going to ask them who pays them. I bet they're not Federal workers. I bet Weis Market pays them. I printed out the pay chart the the NALC city letter carriers have on their website and show it to them. I bet it will make them mad they only make minium wage and those lazy postal workers make more than $20 an hour. If they would just abolish all unions this world would be better off. I wonder how much Mr. Rolando is going to shake the postal service down with. The letter carriers are working off their old contract. They need a new contract. I can only imange how much money Rolando is going to get the lazy postal workers.

I think that he was miffed because his meds were late due to the well deserved time off that the mail carrier had. Ok, so he really should have ordered them a week earlier but obviously that is knot his fault. Just ax him. He'll tell you so, I'm sure.

When the mail isn't delivered on Monday, he'll make an appearance.

Should I tell him us lazy worthless federal workers got to leave early yesterday?

Yeah, that's one of the first things we noticed but he had been coming around regularly. You might be right that he's gone again.

Plas I think we will be waiting a long time for that response. In case no one has noticed, altlanf has been a member since 2003 and only as 193 posts as of this moment. He seems to only use the forums to vent when something or someone lights his fuse.

So, altlandf, have you reevaluated your stance? It seems that everyone here, be they liberal, conservative, pro union, anti union, all agree (and that is rare) that you are way off base. Please feel free to post questions about what's bothering you. I'm sure you'll get some good answers.

The USPS is actually lower than average, given the number of hours USPS employees work, in incidents of workplace violence. It would be more accurate to call it "going Boeing" and that even rhymes.

>This is why union workers don't get fired.

In the private sector, you do something that's a termination offense, you get terminated. Doesn't matter if you're union represented or not. We had a case where one young man was generally incompetent and the last straw was breaking a QA seal during a test and removing one of the disk packs from the computer. They did make a list of other things he had done and went to HR, where he was told he would be terminated for them but he was given the option of resigning first and he resigned. The facts of his departure got out and one person said "God! it was about time!" and several other co-workers expressed similar emotions but didn't mention God as the area had a lot of Christians and they mostly refuse to cuss but we had a few co-workers who swore like sailors. I had a manager who did it all the time and made me visibly upset... and he apologized for upsetting me and the first word of the apology was "damn." I got the guy's work and I was told to take three days and figure out how long it would take to fix it. I came back two and a half days later and said I had fixed it. He asked me how I fixed it and I replied that I rewrote the pieces from scratch that didn't make any sense. He said I was supposed to make a schedule to fix it in three days not fix it in two and a half but he was smiling too much to it to be registered as a reprimand.

You can only assume this, you don't know. My experience aboard a plane where I started decompensating rapidly they announced if there was a doctor aboard and I got a Good Samaritan anesthesiologist. He decided I wasn't in immediate trouble and the pilot decided that we were just as close to our final destination (Houston Hobby Airport) as anywhere else. I went off the plane first and when I got to the ER they checked me out and decided I was weak and dehydrated because of fluid restriction. Now I'm retired, I travel by vehicle because I have more time than money and I have to hit the convenience stores while I top off and buy plenty to drink every time. I have to stop when the gas gets down to about five-eights of a tank because my vehicles empty out slower than my bladder fills up. Southwest Airlines sent me a letter with some an airline tchotcke and an invitation to come back soon!

The USPS Priority Mail boxes I have seen are labeled that they are USPS property and only approved for USPS Priority Mail shipping. After all, the USPS gives them away while you usually have to buy your own boxes for UPS shipping.

IMHO, you're in the body of a man but you complain like a boy.

Let's not tell altlandf the lazy USPS workers (some union, some not) and bankers (most non-union) and stockbrokers (only rarely union) also get off Monday for New Years' Day 2012 (which also falls on a Sunday). Bond brokers are even lazier as they stop working two hours early Friday.

Hey Baylee Buggy it's so nice you mentioned the term "going postal" Well just why was phrase made up? You have said postal service that hired a guy with mental problems. Crazy Pat is what all of his fellow NALC dummies called him. Everyone picked on him but a couple of people were really nice to him. How many warning did he give them and the ps just ignored him. One day he came into work and told the very few people that like him please don't come to work tomorrow. The rest is history. I feel because of crazy pat postal workers get away with more and more. This is why union workers don't get fired. Hey get this why are the turnpike rates going up on Sunday? If we were to follow what is happening these past 2 weeks then the rates should go up on Tuesday January 3. It's true that I don't like unions. Because they can for the most part do what they want and get away with it. In New York there was an parametic or an emt that was at a Mc Donalds eating lunch I guess. Well a woman had a medical emergency. The people in the resturant asked him and pleaded with him to help the poor woman. He said should I call this in for you? The woman died because this union pinhead just wouldn't help her. Well there's a happy ending to this story. Let's put it this way he's not living. It was probably karma.

Let's see if you can slow down for a second and maybe we can help- because we care:

>The last two days I have been trying to file a complaint. I tried to email and call up and I was told I am sorry the complaint system is down.

What is your exact complaint?

>They have the common sense of a turd. Just like you plastic.

I didn't realize that turds had such great common sense but I'll take your work for it.

>You sound like a piece of trash union worker.

No, in fact I've always bucked the unions. Fortunately I live in a Right-to-Work state and was never forced (although strongly persuaded) to join.

>I wish there would be someone like President Reagan in office that would fire every single worthless union worker.

And just why do you think that Reagan would do something like that? The ATC situation was very different. How silly can you be, altlandf? Wait- don't answer that!

>That would solve all the problems You could hire 3 people to one worthless union piece of trash.

That won't solve all of the problems but it would help (in ways that you probably could not fathom).

>I wish Governor Walker would run for President and get rid of all the unions.

That platform would never fly plus what makes you think that would be his platform? Just because he saved his state? You know, if you were smarter, you could be... ah, never mind.

>This is the gull of a postal worker.

Gulls are Federally protected birds. You'd better put that back before you get charged for molesting a gull.

>Before I purchased an item on Ebay I checked the persons feedback rating. Well this one jerk wrote I wasn't a happy camper recieving my item from UPS in a worthless USPS Priority box. I am a worthless letter carrier.

Ok, well you have some personal problems and issues. Either that or English isn't your strong suit. Not sure which.

>I can go on and on about useless unions.

Yes, you can!

>During the snow storms in February 2010 a person needed to get to the hospital. He waited and waited and he finnaly died in extreme pain. You know what that losers union jerk boss did? He didn't even write them up.

Well maybe it's because you're not supposed to MAIL people to the hospital! Next time try an ambulance.

>I am tired of useless union workers just doing what they want and getting away with it.

So am I.

>I also just wonder why the postal service continues to run their retarded ads on TV? You know the one with that dork in it saying how great the postal service is? He's also in the con cast commercials. They are $10 billion in the red and they are still running TV ads like that?

Yeah, strange. That's more of a government bureaucracy creating positions and spending money. You're right, it's preposterous (sorry, not your actual word). BTW, what is a "con cast" commercial? You wATCh waaaay too much TV.

Sounds like a "Letter to The Editor" of your local newspaper is in order. You can probably email it, or even hand deliver. You sure wouldn't want to trust it to the "worthless" people you speak of here. It would probably go unpublished as you would have to give a name they could verify.

Monday was a Federal holiday and Government workers do not work on Federal holidays unless they are in a function that has to be there 24x7x365/366.

Union employees work the company schedule whatever that is. Where I worked, they had overtime when the schedule was swamped by work. They would not let an employee work more than 144 hours of overtime, that was an indication that a co-worker be given some of those tasks. Ideally, the tasks were capable of being done concurrently, the possibility of damage was limited to the functions of that module, and the expert always got to vet the trainees' work. .

>This doesn't happen on Easter. I have NEVER seen the postal
>service or banks take off on Monday following Easter.

That's because Monday after Easter is not a Federal holiday. Some states and cities observe Good Friday. The bond market closes at 2:00 PM ET during many locally observed holidays and not at all on Federal holidays.

>Do the lazy union workers or government workers get paid for two
>holidays when the holiday falls on a Sunday?

They get paid for actually working. They also get paid on holidays if they would be at work during the date the holiday is observed but they get the day off unless they are supporting a function where they had to have workers on the clock 24x7x365/366.

At least he didn't spend all night reminiscing about events that left you hurting (because it was either the reason or it was undesirable but unavoidable), embarrassing (because others could take it silently while I couldn't because I found it painful even when I knew it was deserved (as a ten-year-boy) or unavoidable (as a man who never stopped letting people know he was in pain). Sucking air through the teeth, rolling the head from side to side, making a grimace, and grunting replaced tears and sobbing but stoicism was not an option because it was a form of dishonesty and Mom dealt with discovered dishonesty by giving a spanking by prefacing it with "you earned this one and it was completely avoidable just by telling the truth."

On retrospect, there were only two things that I ever did in life that hurt and I showed it, feared because it because it's usually unpleasant and I showed it, scared by having to get one and I showed it, didn't like, but I went ahead and did it anyway. They were earning paddlings when I was little and blood donation when I was old enough and lived in a place where they asked for blood donors and I thought I was healthy enough.

I even thought they were beneficial but the difference was earning paddlings were beneficial to me (they were, but restricted to the questions how can earned paddlings not be repeated and earned paddlings be avoided. The answer, not earn them in the first place, came to me overnight), and Mom (because she got to show her boy she cared about what he did by telling him, and she was willing to give her boy a reason to not repeat what he shouldn't do by paddling him). Donation, on the other hand was preferable as they wanted to reduce the pain to low as reasonably accomplished. August 13, 2011 was the thrill of the experience of blood donation (the scare and the fear of a blood donation, balanced out by the sense of accomplishment in doing something scary and fearful for me that improved or prolonged life for as many as three others). I've had a lot of blood draws in the interim, in fact the related sickness has kept me from experiencing the thrill of the donor chair (experiencing the scare and fear of blood donation, willingly holding myself to I can experience the reason the blood donation is scary and fearful, and the accomplishment of staring down my fears and fright while reacting to the pain as much as I can without ouching, without cussing, and with only one or two groans or sucking air between the teeth). Blood draws, if they go good, are from the middle of the elbow with sensation limited to the mere presence of the needle. Boys of all ages, even those who have needle phobias, can easily suck it up once they are old enough that any needle procedure doesn't result in crying. Brave boys are at an advantage here, but very fearful boys of all ages can suck it up. Blood draws from the back of the hand are painful from beginning to end and it's few and far between the boy of any age who can suck it up without a least an age-appropriate expression of pain.

Just called to see where our lazy overpaid postal worker is. The guy said sorry our system down so you will have to call back later. IT IS TIME TO SHUT THE POSTAL SERVICE DOWN. THEY CAN'T EVEN KEEP THE COMPUTERS WORKING. I JUST HOPE PRAY THAT CONGRESS PASSES HR 2309 AND THE POSTAL SERVICE CAN START LAYING OFF GOOD FOR NOTHING POSTAL WORKERS. All unions need to be shutdown. Was watching a story on WBAL 11 where these people worked for years and they were disabled. They needed their SSI but those lazy good for nothing government workers just dragged their feet. They ignored the doctors that said they were disable. When WBAL 11 started to question the lazy overpaid union workers their bank accounts got thousands in them. Worthless overpaid union workers. Govenor Walker for President. He would take all the power away from the crooked union workers. Instead of working those crooked union workers were protesting. Then the postal service wonders why they are going out of business. I can't wait until they fold. uck them. Worthless pieces of trash.

Whenever a Federal holiday falls on a Sunday, Monday is also considered a holiday. There are no government offices open for business. Banks are generally closed, as are many business offices. It's been that way for decades. Guess you just missed it.

Who are the lazy bums who aren't working when they are supposed to?

Are you saying Federal workers don't have to show up for work if they don't feel like it?

Dayyyyymmmm. I missed that memo.

Guess I can go home then.

Doubt there's any civil or military service there. Willing to bet that he is a Glen Beck fan though!

Lazy letter carriers? Wow, that is one long stretch there. What profession would you consider as Not Lazy then?

Have you ever, by any chance, done any civil or military service? Have you ever done any sort of service for your country? Don't get me wrong, I have my own very strong opinions about unions but I also understand a bit about civil and military service and just a wee bit about civilian unions. Your vitriol seems to go way beyond what would seem a healthy anti-union position.

That must have been fun to go out and demonstrate your level of knowledge to the public.

Oh if only you had read what people have written here; you could have saved yourself some embarrassment.

By the way, when did York declare its independence from the Federal Government? They have their own city letter carriers now? Interesting.

You know the fun thing I did today? I went out to one of those postal contract units. They were actually open Monday. I asked the lady there if she was a postal worker or a store worker. Well she said she wasn't a postal worker. I then showed her what the lazy letter carriers made. The lowest paid letter carrier city pay grade 1 step a now makes $1703.50 every other week. They make just under $32 an hour for regular overtime. And these lazy bums can't work when they are suppose to? Easter falls on a Sunday but the mail and all the lazy federal workers work Monday. Union workers are just as greedy as big corporations. In Lancaster, Pa the mayor needed to have some firefighters to retire and change the hours they work. Well they got a couple of firefighters to retire. But it still wasn't enough. The other greey union workers wouldn't budge. 4 firefighter lost their jobs including one that just told his so called brothers he was going to be a daddy. Gee that was really nice. You used to be able to go to Sears and purchase Craftsman hand tools and know they were American made. Now there are a bunch of hand tools being made in China and Taiwan because of the greedy unions. Will all the people that are out of work they wouldn't mind working in Monday after the true holiday. This country would be better off without the lazy unions.

Sneakers, I know perfectly well that Boxing Day is only a holiday in Commonwealth countries. Just my way of letting people know that 1). people from TWO countries use and read this site, 2). we have different cultures and customs, and 3). we get an extra holiday, hahaha.

We had a lovely day yesterday, with no mail.
