I say supposedly since I've left the lights on before and come back to a dead battery. Another time, though, it shut the lights off before that happened.

Most cars have a "AUTO" setting for the lights, they turn off a few seconds after you exit the car. I keep mine set to "AUTO", they come on automatically when it starts to get dark and they turn off by themselves after I get out and lock the doors with the key fob.
