I pulled over and took off the wiper bar and replaced it with the passenger side wiper bar assembly and on my way again.

Once was during a fierce rain storm that turned to hail, I pulled over under an overpass sheltered from the hail. The second time was in wicked fog, I found a lay-by just before rail tracks, pulled over, and went to sleep until morning sun dissipated the fog.

When travelling, I always look at the weather reports, and if there's going to be bad weather, I always have alternative routes planned in case I have to change.

When it's difficult to see in heavy rain, it's a much safer idea to pull over until the condition improves and it much easier to see the road ahead of you.
