2011-2012 Toyota Prius V hybrid will get an exhaust problem fixed Toyota Motor Corp. announced a service campaign to fix its brand new Prius V, a wagon-like vehicle in its wildly popular gas-electric hybrid line. Similar to the hybrid sedan, the roomier Prius V captures the "waste heat" from its exhaust system. However, flawed components in the recovery system may cause the Prius V to leak engine coolant.

PLAN TO SELL the prius THIS fall(and buy the new Ford hybrid), the wive keeps giving me the Toy Prius to drive, so I can check out posible problems, latest break lock ups in wet weather! The Prius is clearly the least favorite to drive and the Ford Escape hybrid the desired ride in our family!

Ford Escape Hybrid is a better built veh. than the Prius, I have one of each, both driven equally. The Ford with 140K miles feels much more solid than the Toy with 103K on it. I don't care who sold more, the Ford wins in our family!

If the memo actually was relevant it would be all over the news and would be used in a lot of law suits. It sounds like they were hyping something that was largely meaningless.

Oh, here we go again, pick on Toyota day. I have owned Toyotas for years and years and own a new one, and this is simply not true in any respect. I have NEVER had acceleration problems with any of my Toyotas.

Honda like Toyota lies about MPG's, The wifes Prius got 40.3(395miles on 9.8gal) last fill NOT the 60 Toyota claims. While our Ford Escape Hybrid 2WD gets 32.5 close to the 34/31 the sticker claims.

Honda unseats Toyota for 2011 "Top Junk" Award!!!
BY migwitch All-Star Author Green Bay
It has been previously reported that for all of 2011 Toyota would - for the third year in a row - recall more vehicles than any other manufacturer. Now we learn that Honda, not content with Toyota grabbing all the junk headlines, has sprinted to the top of the loser board with a last minute mega recall.
From Autoblog -
Honda has surpassed Toyota for the largest number of recalled vehicles in 2011. Wards Auto reports that Honda expanded an airbag recall to encompass a total of 2.5 million million vehicles last year, pushing the total number of recalled units to 3.9 million vehicles over 17 campaigns. Previous estimates put Toyota at the head of the recall pile with 13 campaigns covering 3.5 million vehicles.
The airbag recall covers some of the most popular Honda models, including Civic, Civic Hybrid and Accord sedans manufactured between 2001 and 2004, as well as the CR-V and Pilot. The Acura CL and TL were also included.
Toyota, meanwhile, found itself correcting issues with accelerator pedals and floor mats associated with the company's unintended acceleration woes. Toyota had found itself leading the largest number of recalled vehicles for two consecutive years prior to 2011.
Congratulations Honda, it takes a lot of effort to build junk and pawn it off as quality. But don't rest on your laurels, as I look for Toyota to put up an even greater effort to capture the Top Junk award in 2012!

sounds like a math problem gone wrong if they got 70, our computer reads 46-49 most of the time, and the gas gauge is garbage, it reads empty at 300 miles. We usually take a chance and go around 400miles. We also fill to the top each time, and then just divide; 395miles/9.8gal to get 40.3 mpg last fill. Weather here is fair 50-80degrees during that tank. Thats the way I was told to calc. mpg.

gbhugva, your wife's prius is beating the hybrid escape, and likely by better mileage than you claim..
my prius currently is working on 58.5 MPG.. 390 Miles. I'll likely wait to fill since gas is dropping ...

I think one of the writers from Car and Driver magazine noted that when you crunch enough 0s and 1s, you're going to occasionally get a 3. Makes sense to me. That, or doofuss drivers were getting their pedals confused.

2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is most powerful Mustang...ever!
Posted in: Commentary, by Gregg Laskoski on Apr 28, 2012 08:00 AM
2013 Ford Shelby GT500It's a beast. 662 horsepower. 631 lbs.-ft. of torque. Top speed could surpass 200 mph. That's the latest Ford Mustang V-8 which has just been certified as the most powerful series production V-8 in the world.
Made in Flat Rock, Mich., the car delivers 112 horsepower more than the 2012 model, and, it even improves on fuel efficiency, getting 1 mpg more (city and highway) with estimated mileage at 15 mpg (city) and 24 mpg (hwy) for 18 mpg combined.
Acknowledging top speeds in excess of 200 mph, Car and Driver magazine says: "Chew on that, Camaro ZL1. Heck; chew on that, Corvette Z06, with your piddling 198 mph. Overall, Ford says the 2013 GT500 has 33 percent more downforce at 160 mph than its predecessor. With a factory Mustang joining the 200-mph club, drivers will appreciate standard Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers in the front and larger rotors and new pads at all four corners."
Car and Driver also said: "The GT500 tops the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG by 99 hp. It beats the mighty Cadillac CTS-V by 106. For heaven’s sake, the GT500 has 232 more horsepower than does the base Corvette. Even the gladiatorial Vette ZR1 falls shy, at 638 hp and 604 lb-ft."
Ford is not confirming the price just yet, but USA TODAY reported that the 2013 GT500's horsepower is matched by only a handful of exotic vehicles going for upwards of $100,000. MSN says Ford's suggested retail price will be $54,995.
Clearly, cars like these don't come around very often. And in the U.S. with CAFE standards pressing manufacturers to go green, reduce horse power and shrink engines... the 2013 GT500 might be a Ford Mustang milestone edition that perhaps will not be trumped for many years. Did we mention the 662 horses? That's not a typo.
What NO Asian Pony cars!! GO American Muscle!

funny, the only "sudden" acceleration I've noticed is in sales of their vehicles...
For car sales in USA for March, sold over 99K cars in March for top 3 vehicles
#1 Toyota Camry accelerated to 42,567 vehicles... #3 Toyota Prius family accelerated to 28,711 #6 Toyoyta Corolla did drop slightly to 28,289..
But this acceleration is by offering vehicles to americans that americans want...

Honda Recalls CR-V to Fix Control-Arm Problem :
By Jake Lingeman By AutoWeek Fri 8:30 AM
Honda is recalling CR-V's to inspect and possibly replace the right-front lower control arm.Honda says that the part could have been made with an improper welding process. Over time the control arm could break at the weld. If that happens the steering would be affected, possibly resulting in a crash.
*** You dont think this welding problem could happen to other Hondas too? Many share same parts! ***

"How about turning off the key in such an event?!"
Great idea, then you lose your steering assist - as well as your brakes!
Brakes are designed to overcome the maximum power of the engine. If that is not enough, simply shift to Neutral...

More Toyota haters. So will future Ford Hybrid trucks have this driver induced acceleration issue since Ford is partnered with Toyota to develop the new Ford Hybrid truck line? You better post some Ford hater threads now.
