Both of mine work fine except for sometimes the one on my passenger side tends to droop down if I go over a real bumpy road. The actual "holder" of my light is a little loose.

Sylvania silverstars "...but they have a 250 hour rating."
yuck, thanks for that tidbit of info, then I won't be getting those
instead, opt for an additional aftermarket driving light system (like fog lights, but really are just an extra set of halogen lights)
HIDs are STILL too expensive

HID's are too blue and glare which is particularly bad for other drivers. They're also very expensive. I'll stick with halogens anytime.

I use upgraded halogens, but thinking of installing HID upgrade kit. I do a lot of night driving.

My Aerio uses the tried and true H4 bulb. All these other bulbs they have come up with to fit different styling changes have NOT been improvements, and in most cases, the driver ends up with less usable light. I have more light than my other car with 9004 bulbs. My wife's car, with 9007 bulbs is pretty good, but the H4, long the standard in Bosch, Hella, and other upgrades to the old round and rectangular headlamps, is the best of all. I don't need HID in my Aerio.

I use Sylvania silverstar direct replacement bulbs, or the entire housing(as applicable on my older cars).

OEM Back in the earlydays all headlights were round. When the industry first started the rectangular one, Consumer Reports complained that it added cost. Industry response - the shape allowed a lower profile to inprove visibility. Consumer Reports response - showed a picture of a car with stacked dual rectangular headlights.

I believe I have the SilverStars in my Patriot. I bought them 4 years ago, they were about the most expensive ones on the shelf, and they're still working. Better than the stock ones. I don't recall anything about service hours on the packages.

I have OEM and was thinking of going HID because I go off road in the dark where I hunt. You can find a reputable shop to buy from and have installed. Most of them will have a good warranty on them that covers the ballast and bulbs. But beware! I was told if one goes out the other will not work.

I thought there was free money here, but sadly that is not the case. I will now cry a little.
Oh, and the answer is halogens

OEM stock.
I did purchase four Sylvania Silver Star Ultra halogen headlights for my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. They cost a bit over $80.00. Yes you can see better. Do you blind other drivers - I never had anyone flash their lights when I was on low beams. I never had one burn out in four years of ownership. Would I purchase them again -- no way too expensive for my current budget.
