They'll even have to worry if their stations will run out of gas the day after the May 15 event. LOL.
Maybe something did happen to sickoverit2. Maybe he or she had a nervous breakdown after prices did not go down but continue to go up. Shame they couldn't come back and let us know what their feelings were about the April 1 boycott, or was it just an April Fools Joke?

Seems that sickoverit2 is somehow stuck at 17 message posts and 1,345 points. I'm worried; he doesn't seem to have posted anything since he started this March 9 thread. I wonder if maybe Gas Buddy has a problem and can't post the points he's earning for his gas price postings. Or maybe something happened to him and he's unable to get online to get back to us about the how the day went when he didn't buy gas. I wonder if his call for an April 1 "don't buy gas on..." day was better or worse than the "don't buy gas on..." that took place April 15. Well, Wonder if, after he spread the message to all his friends and hoped everybody didn't buy gas on April 15, he'll even bother to post a gas price. Sure hope he's able to get back to encourage people to support the "don't buy gas on..." that people on Facebook are saying will happen on May 15; saw one comment on a different website that everybody on Facebook supports the "don't buy day on..." day; I think the same guy said that there were 500 million people on Facebook. Well, that should be effective an effective boycott, 500 million people not buying gas until the next day. Not only will the oil industry be deprive of all that money for a day, but then they'll have to take care of long lines of extra business the next day. I'm sure that will teach the oil industry a lesson they won't soon forget.

JMANFL says, "Get ready to pay $4.25 for summer time."
In this area we will be paying that before the summer and quite likely by the end of this month.

When are people going to complain to Congress again about what? That the market place, supply and demand is affecting the price of fuel?

For a point of reference: Thanks to inflation, dollars get bigger every year. For instance, retail gasoline cost about 25 cents in 1918 and is estimated to average about $3.70 this year. That sounds like a huge jump, until you realize that the inflation-adjusted price of gasoline in 1918 is $3.61. That’s the proper comparison.
And since you're interested in boycotting, I assume becasue of prices, here's a link you should be familiar with:

For all the responses that sickoverit2 made to his original post calling for an April 1 day of not buying gas, here's his most recent comment, from April: "TODAY IS THE DAY!!!Thank you to all who are joining in! I'm so proud of you because you didn't back down under pressure from the other side!!That's what it takes to be a leader!"
Well wouldn't it have been good if the leader of this thread had come back and given everyone the results of the day of not buying gas; let us know how gas stations and gas prices were affected? Or, being a leader who didn't back down, acknowledging that maybe it wasn't as successful as he would have hoped for?
Instead, there aren't any more message posts to this website, and none of the people who said variations of "Include me in the protest" have the courtesy to come back and say anything. Not even the courtesy... They don't have to say that "non-belivers" were right, just simply say their idea didn't work and maybe a new suggestion needs to be made, something different than one day of not buying gas.

RickyBee: The "In this area, you can get a discount at some stores if you bring your own bag, including reusing the plastic bags" is interesting. I don't know if you can reuse plastic bags in this area. You might be able to in, say, Maryland but not in D.C or Virginia. I do see a lot more cloth-type bags than ever before.

Save the trees, don't buy tree products, that's all. If you don't buy tree products, less trees will be cut down. More for dogs to lift a leg on. I'll be in a Scout camp again this weekend. In a couple of hours, it will be time to light up the camp fire. Tree smoke smells so nice. Gee, no latrine nearby, what will I do, if I have to that is.

Boycott trees products? My dog will be lost.
Boycotting plastic bottles actually isn't a new idea but those people who feel they must buy multiple bottles of water daily or endless cups of Starbucks (and similar) seem to also say boycott (sorry...don't buy on a certain date) gas. Actally here in D.C. there's a penalty for having your purchases put into a plastic bag; 5 cents per bag. So the trick is if you use self-serve, when it asks you how many bags you used, you always say "one"; the machine doesn't know any different.

Gas prices continue once again today to rise higher and higher.
Gas Buddy: You are right on all accounts. Of course though the charcoal briquettes are produced from trees. Everyone wants to save the trees yet they wont stop buying paper products, and other products that come from trees. Could you imagine if they started a boycott on tree products everything they would have to give up buying like toilet paper and etc. Hahaha I say!
Another note: Oil prices rise, that also involves the production of plastics that come from oil, Dr. Pepper/Snapple have already warned that the cost of plastic bottles is rising because of the rise in oil prices and therefore the price of their beverages may rise. Guess the next useless boycott will be not to buy anything in a plastic bottle. But wait, plastic poly bags, the one your newspaper comes in, are produced from the same oil, so let's all stop getting home delivery of the newspaper while were at it.

RickyBee: You and I, obviously can't see the big picture, and sickoverit2 (and others) must be so gloating over the success of the boycott that they don't want to rub it in by giving us the results of the boycott.
I'm sure that some of them honestly believe that if it weren't for them, gas prices would have risen even higher than they have since day of not buying gas. I'm sure some of them will say, "well, if it weren't for us not buying on April 1 (as we won't on April 15), and the oil knowing we had them in our sights, that they would have raised the price more than it is now."
What's funny is that you're correct; instead of making a sacrifice and switching to charcoal to make their point, they'll simply buy an extra container or two and ride out (or smoke out) the "don't buy propane on..." day, and then clam victory.

Gas_Buddy: Is Propane the next thing someone wants to boycott? I didn't see that. And what will the propane boycotters do with their smokers and bbq grilles that use propane? They'll buy it the day before or after and claim some sorta victory I guess.

It has been very quiet, from those that lead the call for this boycott. It would not surprise me if we did not hear from any of them in this topic again. It also would not surprise me if the next place they turn up is in a new topic, with a new date and maybe a new name, but the same arguments that were refuted here.

Uh...why does driving suck? I understand that paying for driving might suck, but driving sucks?
We have to go from point A to point B? Right. Just like you always have.
If you're saying it's supply and demand, then it's not "crazy". It's simply supply and demand. What would be crazy would be if it weren't supply and demand, but something else that drove prices up.
What's even crazier to me is that we have some people who've been a member for a month and who haven't posted gas prices to help their neighbors and others on Gas Buddy. You would think that if they were truly concerned with gas prices, and took the initiative to join a gas price posting website, that they'd take the time to post gas prices once in a while. Just once in a while. Crazy, isn't it?

You can always have faith that prices will come down. They have in the past. But there's a difference in having faith and having confidence, but having faith still is important.

Seriously, can you provide an update on what happened nationwide, in the U.S. and Canada regarding the boycott gas plan for April 1, 2011? I'm willing to admit I'm wrong if the "boycott" of not buying gas on April 1 and reduced prices (which I assume was the purpose of the boycott but it would be nice to hear about the results from someone who started the boycott.

I saw some cars drive by our local station. I chased them down and ordered the drivers to immediately end their boycotts and go back and buy gas. One of them only needed 97 cents worth to fill up, but it was the principle, no boycotts allowed because they don't work. Nobody else drove by after I made examples of them.

RickyBee: And even if they did drive by a gas station, that doesn't mean that they didn't fill up at an earlier gas station they passed, that they;re not filling up at a gas station in front of you, or that that even needed gas. Many people don't buy gas until they need it (i.e., half tank or less, quarter tank, etc.) You and I know that; but it will be nice to see what the "boycotters" say.
I guess they're waiting until after Monday rush hour to say anything; waiting to get all the news stories from the newspapers, radio, television, check with other people and websites to gather their information on the success Yeah, I'm sure...that sickoverit2 and others will get back to us.
Me and Michael29644 are waiting... just sitting here, cup of coffee in hand, waiting, knowing they'll get back with us.
