I used to be able to erase a bad price by updating it with a price of 0. But lately a couple of people on the greensboro site have tried that (to get rid of a price posted for a grade the station doesn't even sell) and the price has not been removed. If this a bug? Or a change? How do we get rid of a price that doesn't belong?

If someone zeros out prices from their favorites list, they won't be able to see the comments.

jcpatriots - You can not delete prices using the app regardless of points or rank. Read my first reply in this thread for the restrictions.

Might I suggest adding something to that effect in the comments section so others can see there is a reason for the unusually low price.

I'm not aware of any GasBuddy feature that takes member ranking into account in any way (other than the distinction between junior and senior members).

Oh, regarding the default price on the app, you CAN change that in the settings, you know.

ryanvantol: "I didn't realize you could zero out prices. Since the default price in the mobile app is the regular price, and here, everyone advertises the midgrade price, I have on occasion updated the regular price with the midgrade price by accident. Does zeroing out work on the android app?"

I've never had luck with getting it to work on the app at all (I have the android app). Nonetheless, it almost never works if the person who posted it has a higher ranking than you, no matter how off it may be.

I had some prices that I posted zeroed out because people "thought" it was too low, but the store was having a grand opening special.

I also think people shouldn't zero out prices because they happened to change during the day. I posted prices for a station that had yet to go up in price with other stations early in the morning, and my prices got zeroed out. I didn't know why at first, though it was someone vandalising my prices, but I come to find out the station went up 10c during the day. Why that person didn't just UPDATE THE PRICES to what they had changed to instead of automatically assuming I posted incorrect prices is beyond me, but whatever. Anyway, I haven't had any issues with doing this lately, I had to do it for several faulty diesel prices. I don't know why these are appearing out of nowhere lately.

When I see an incorrect (outdated or just plain wrong) price, I replace it with the correct one.
But we're trying to get rid of prices (usually diesel or mid-grade) that someone posted for stations that don't carry the grade reported.

And I just tried it again and it worked this time. (Are we in the twilight zone?)

>> How do you know he posted the car wash price if you didn't see it yourself?

(a) I did see it several days ago
(b) I strongly suspect that the price at this station has not decreased 10ยข while all other stations have increased their prices
(c) it is a common mistake made for the station in question
(d) After observing gas pricing in this area for more than a decade, I'm confident that my conclusion is correct

bytebug,

How do you know he posted the car wash price if you didn't see it yourself?

And what are you supposed to do when a rookie posts the discounted car wash price? Go out of your way to drive there and see exactly what the price is? Guess what the price is based on what the discount was last week when you were in that part of town?

I think people should not be zeroing out prices just because they "think" it's too low. How do you know without seeing it? If you saw it, why not just update the correct price?

I stand corrected. Looks like this has been disabled some time between 5:30 PM yesterday and now.

It still works. You can't zero out a price from the app, mobile site, using an FSL or the report a price feature. You have to use the full site. The price can't be older than the expiration time for the site the station is in (24 hours on weekdays, 36 hours on weekends for Greensboro). You have to search for the price using either an area search or the map. You have to click on the bad price and enter a price of zero. If the price is older than the expiration time for the site, there is a work around of re-posting a bogus price and then zeroing that out.

Some of us have noticed that if you zero out a price that you have reported, you won't see it on the full site but will still see it on the app for some period of time.

Contact the moderators to see if for some reason the ability to zero out prices has been disabled for certain members.
